New Metallica Album - Death Magnetic

This is Metallica latest album or number 9th studio album for them. It kind of late for me reviewing this album now since it was release on 12 September worldwide and it also been leaked 10 days earlier on the given date in some store in France. Anyway, I got this original CD on middle of September as a birthday gift for my wife. But i also downloaded when the album got leaked before just because i can't wait any longer to listen all the songs. So don't worry Lars I still buy the original CD.

And here goes my review about this album.

One of most anticipated album this year is produced by Rick Rubin. Rick also said to the members that they should return to Master Of Puppets. This album is also marking the rebirth of Kirk Hammett who practically not playing any solo's in their previous album St. Anger. In this album James sing a little bit higher and the guitar setting is also set a bit high too. Lars' drum sound was also sound very great and this is the first album recorded for Rob Trujillo with Metallica.

There are several great songs with constant speed changes and multiple riffs in this album. I can't hardly stop listening All Nightmare Long, Broken, Beat & Scarred, The Judas Kiss and My Apocalypse this couple of weeks. This album also have some ballads such as The Things That Never Comes and The Unforgiven III. A lot of Metallica fans complained the they shouldn't name the sequel of The Unforgiven song since the songs doesn't connect with the two others. It was a nice song actually, it has Ennio Morricone "Ecstasy Of Gold" taste on the intro only the title wasn't too appropriate compare with the first two sequel of The Unforgiven.

This album also have an instrumental songs. Last time Metallica recorded an instrumental song is on ...And Justice For All album which is 10 years ago. It is the longest tract on this album and it's call Suicide & Redemtion. The structure of the song is almost like To Live Is To Die instrumental song in ...And Justice For All.. but i guess it has more vibe and on the slow part there is some great solo that is really touching my heart... i just don't know why... :)

So, my conclusion is, that this is the sign that they are trying very hard on this album and their efforts is paid. It is different from St. Anger. Although we might hear some similar riff on this album with St. Anger or Load/Reload but we have to said that it was all Metallica. So, I guess this album is describing Metallica's trademark songs and lyrics with a new vibe on each of them.

So guys be prepare for this...
